What's New with Science in the News?

Welcome to Science in the News!

Our mission at Science in the News is to take scientific topics present in today's current events and examine the science behind the media reports in order to make you more fully informed and to distinguish scientific fact from pure speculation. We accomplish this task through a variety of avenues, including our weekly seminar series led by current researchers at Harvard Medical School which is presented each fall. You can register now, and join us as we discuss current topics in the news through our monthly newsletter, SITN Flash, and we'll add you to our mailing list so that you’ll know all the details about our upcoming series!

Our 2007 series is wrapping up, but there's still a lot to do here on our website! First, if you missed any of our seminars, or want to listen to any seminar again (or the whole series!), check out our seminar archives, where we have presentations from the 2007 series as well as from previous years. In addition, we are podcasting each of our lectures in our 2007 season, which means that you can listen to the complete presentation as given at our Harvard Medical School talks anytime. For more information, visit our podcasting section.

Aside from our seminar series, Science in the News also has a number of other programs that continue year-round to keep you informed. One of these programs is SITNFlash, our monthly email newsletter that picks up where our seminar series leaves off and keeps you informed all year long on the science behind current events. In addition, check out our continuing feature SITN Q+A, where you can enter your own questions to be answered by our team of graduate student researchers.

Can't make it in person to the lecture series? Listen to it online!

An exciting feature of Science in the News making its debut this fall is our podcasting channel. By subscribing to our free podcast feed, you'll receive audio recordings of our complete fall seminar series, recorded live at our Harvard Medical School location, automatically as they become available. You don't have to continually check back on our site and download each one individually -- your computer will do it for you! Then, you can listen to each seminar whenever you please on your computer or portable audio player. For more information and instructions on how to start, visit our podcasting center.
